About this game

Pick a dinosaur and it walks onto the farm. White lines on the ground mark its nose and its tail. The class guesses how many ducks long it is, and you tap their guess on the number row.

Then the ducks come out. Each one walks along the path and sits down next to the last, nose to tail, starting at the dinosaur's nose. A number pops up over each duck as the class counts. At the end a flag shows where the class's guess would have reached.

Some dinosaurs are a whole number of ducks long. Others are "a bit more than 7 ducks" or "nearly 9 ducks", so the class sees that measuring doesn't always come out even. Measure the same dinosaur again with pigs and it takes fewer, because a pig is longer than a duck.

How it works

  1. Pick a dinosaur, or press Surprise me.
  2. Ask for guesses and tap the class guess.
  3. Press Line up the ducks and count them together. Or set the ducks to come one at a time, each time you tap.
  4. Read the answer, then try pigs or another dinosaur. The menu keeps each answer so you can compare dinosaurs.
