About this game
Each player is an animal at the end of a wooden jetty with a rod. Hold the button and the power goes up and down; let go and the float flies out. The rod swings slowly from side to side, so you choose where it lands by when you let go.
Fish swim over and nibble. Press too soon and they swim off. When the float goes right under, press fast to hook the fish. Then hold to reel in, and let go whenever the fish pulls, or the line snaps. Big fish fight harder and live further out, so a long cast is a gamble.
There are three places to fish: Sunny Jetty, Coral Reef and Moonlight Bay. Between them there are 31 things to catch, from clownfish and snapper to stingrays, sharks and moray eels, plus old tyres, drink cans, a rubber duck and treasure chests. Each place has one very rare giant: a monster shark, a giant octopus or a sea monster. Turtles and dolphins are let go again, for points. Now and then a fish is golden and worth three times as much.
Sometimes a shark or an eel comes for the fish on your line. Reel in before it gets there, or you land a pile of bones. Crates float past too: land the float on one for a faster reel, golden bait, or (with two players) a crab that pinches the other player's line.
The last 30 seconds of a round score double. With two players, the higher score wins. Everything you catch goes in the fish book, which keeps the heaviest of each kind.
How it works
- Choose one or two players, type names and pick an animal each.
- Choose where to fish and how long the round lasts.
- One player uses Space or taps the screen. With two, one holds A or touches the left half and the other holds L or touches the right half.
Good for
- A reward for children who love fishing
- Two children playing each other at the end of the week
- Wet lunchtimes
